Copepods, common parasite on sharks. Im a shark nut, if anyone has any questions about them feel free to ask and I can answer them, plenty of experience with them both in the water diving with them and off the boat....
Sharked last night from the beach with my buddies ryan and jim, ended up with 9 duskies in 2 hours to 5 feet long, at dead low tide. Had a ball jumpin on em in the surf when we got em in the wash

I am 100 percent positive those are browns the dorsal fin is way to big for a dusky and is placed directly above the pectoral fins. on a dusky the dorsal is set back much further from the pectorals. Also the the dorsal is relatively straight where as on a dusky it has more of a curve. Dusky s also have a very visible lateral line where as the fish pictured does not. Every person who i showed the picture too identified all of the pictures as browns not duskys.OCsurfcaster wrote:def are not browns..

I'm a paddle ski angler (kayak) here in South Africa and a total of four Great Whites in excess of 19 feet were found dead in shark nets off the coast where we fish. Strange things have been happening lately since the "no show" of the annual Sardine run.

Re: Sharking
It is sad. GW's are a protected species here and you are not allowed to land even a small one. Cut your line or risk doing time. I tried to get a tooth from the one in picture and the guy who runs the boats that haul the nets for the Sharks Board said he'd get me a tooth from any other species but not from a GW. He could lose his job or worse. We're seeing GW activity in places they are not normally known to frequent. A surfer was taken last week. He never made it. Tragic. These subs are all over right now but the boys have been catching a lot of other species like Bronze Whalers, Raggies, Tigers etc. All released to fight another day.
