Saturday Night Surf Sharking
With the water temperatures back up from the drop we had, a buddy and I decided to round up the wives, and give it a go out front for some sharkin' on an IBSP overnighter. We stopped and filled our buckets with some fresh bunker and into the park we went. Airing down and pulling onto A-7 by 7:30pm, we arrived to a lake-like ocean, and a slight SSW blow which changed to a weak NNE by sunrise. We spiked our rods, setup our gear, got the fire going, and started to play the waiting game. Not a tap all night long. Not even a skate or a doggy, which would have been welcomed as the uneventful hours ticked by. Then the sun came up, and I had talked my buddy into staying until the 8:45-ish high tide. The feelings of failure had fallen over our campsite until 7am when my rod bent over, and started peeling line like mad. I had assumed it was a large cownosed ray, since they had been invading the beaches in the weeks prior. I ran over to the rod, lifted it outta the spike, and it was game on. After a good 6 or 7 minute fight, I had beached my first shark. This has been a long time coming for me, as I have been on a quest to land one of these babies since I had started fishing with Sir Frocket. Wish he was there with me to see me land my first.

Nice catch
That's a decent size toothy right there, especially from the beach.
I know in Fla they have beach tournaments for sharks when the toothy ones migrate ( I believe it's black fin )
If you google, "South Florida Shark fishing Club" it should show some pix of beach catches.

Brown shark, not sure if it's edible, and it's a protected species so back in the water it went!
