Builder's Challenge

OK Guys I've been thinking about how to make this more interesting and help out the site as well. So let me know what you think about this idea. The challenge is to build one of the three plugs I listed (Flaptail, Husky Musky, or Tiger). All plugs will be auctioned off for whatever cause is most important at the time (i.e SBO General Purpose fund, BigRock, JFP weight loss, etc). All plugs will be judged by me, and two other non-competitors in a couple of different categories including (action, Paint, authenticity). As for prizes I would start it out with a $50 Dixie Art gift certificate and suggest maybe 10% of the total auction proceeds for building supplies. I'm thinking 3 months to the end. That should be plenty of time for even the part time builders to come up with something. I also thought we'd have 5 categories and each category would be worth 100 points. So if you decide to do a custom paint you could gain points there but lose points for authenticity. Or if the original design wasn't great for saltwater bass fishing (Plastic tiger) you may lose some points for authenticity but gain points for castability or action.

Rules

1.Pick one of the following to reproduce....Husky Musky......Heddon Giant Flaptail........Heddon Tiger
2. Build ends June 30, 2010
3. All entries will be judged as follows (500 point maximum)
a. Authenticity (design, paint,pattern) = up to 100 points
b. Castability = up to 100 points
c. Swimming Action = up to 100 points
d. Paint and finish = up to 100 points
e. Customizations = up to 100 points
4. All plugs will be auctioned for SBO operating cash or current fund raising cause or split as determined by Smitty
5. All plugs will be judged by a panel of three non-competing members (to be determined)
5. The winner will receive a $50 gift certificate to Dixie Art and 10% of the total auction proceeds.

Sound like fun….If one of these challenges pop up when I am back home (a few more months) I will be in.

Only One plug Skip. No problem about regifting.

I have a repro of a Husky Musky if anyone wants to borrow it and I also have a smaller Heddon flaptail that I can lend out as well.

Do your research if you want to stay true to the original colors, or trick it out if you want to go that route.


Object is to have fun and build something that will catch and raise some operating cash or donations to a good cause.

Up to you Gimmpy. You can gain points for originality. Make sure it swims nicely as thats worth points also.
