Barnegat Inlet

Had a little cough today. So I wasn't able to work on this nasty day and to go fishing. A buddy of mine who is an incrediable fly fishing guide upstate came with me and was giving me a lesson. Well the weather was not cooperative and I opted for the spinning rod and he fly fished in the 20 mph wind with gusts higher.


Headed out later then normal at 7am. Perfect tide and less then perfect conditions and rain. Hit the sod banks for one small bluefish then headed to inlet. Mouth and rocks unfishiable but found some white water to thow jigs.

Tons of bird, tons of bluefish, some Striped ones and one for the table. Pearl white storm shad was the tkt. All fish had butterfish in their bellies. Mullet was also in the mix.

Tide was moving in while fishing and fish stopped bitting when the tide slacked even with 7 footers pushing into the inlet and crazy wind. Should have took pics of the birds working and the waves it was awesome.


38 inches weighted in at 18 lbs.

nice!!!! catch......you worked hard your adventure paid off...........caught most of my bigger fish in weather like that....also had a few of my friend chumming overboard.......i used to tell them dont stop chumming now the fish are in
