Barnegat Inlet

Fished Sat (10/8) for Stripers with no luck in and around the inlet early am. Caught a nice tog on the rocks and some bluefish (as many yellow eyes as you wanted)

Sunday (10/9) Am up at Oh dark thirty and waiting for my 7 year old to wake up. After 2 cups of coffee and first light I went to wake him.

Loaded up a few spot in the live well to fish the inlet. On the hunt for a striper. No fish in the inlet so we went North off Island beach State Park. Lot and I mean lots of Bunker. Jumped from pod to pod until I saw something I liked in the pods.

Well broke a Gloomis rod and lost a striper and then my son was fishing a small rod and reel with a snagged bunker. We snagged the bunker and then rehooked with no weight.

Well my 7 year old and his rod got hit like a mack truck and the fish almost spooled him. Had to chase it down with the boat and he landed a 46 incher at 34 lbs. Awesome fish.

He was estatic and I think I was even happier.

Tried to post pics but it keeps making me download software. Heading out Thurs am in the rain on the bunker schools and a little flyfishing.

yea i was at IBSP fri/sat/sun......and that slick of bunker could be seen from casino pier.....prolly to the pocket.....it was huge......with fish on them......most of the bass i caught (2) where in very close............like where the water meets the sand.....feeding close to shore........nice report and nice to have your son hook up on a nice bass
