Barnegat inlet dive report 9/21

Dove Barnegat inlet today with my buddy Jim. We had ok viz and a good drift, saw lots of big tog around. We ended up workin a different part of the jetty where guys were bailing big tog on rod n reel. I made a drop and found a cave so I swam inside and was greeted with the sight of at least 40-50 tog, all between 14 and 20 inches long. I was so afraid to shoot at them only because I ran the risk of killing more then one with a single shot. I saw an opening on the other side and swam around to check it, popped back up for a breathhold and dropped down again and ran into some sheepshead, shot one and stuffed him in the bag. Reloaded, dropped to the cave again and lined up on a nice 16" tog, the big guys were too far back to shoot without me jamming myself into the cave. All in all, pretty good day.

Just ate that sheepshead, for a fish his size (12 inches) I got some really nice fat white fillets offa him. Savin the tog for dinner with my girlfriend tomorrow since shes never eaten it before.

And who the heck was at the inlet today? Jeep wrangler with an SBO sticker!!

Nah Jim it wasnt smitty I know his jeep... It was a grey wrangler I think.

ella is doing great....i've only seen the ocean once in three weeks but that's expected!

Great report AKScuba what are the water temps now??

Mini, ocean's still in the low 70s, I did have to hop out a few times to sit in the sun and warm up though.

you going in with a wet suit ??

Gettin my camera rigged up at the moment. When it is set up Ill try and do something.
