Released fish
RickSC, What you did today was a beatiful thing. I don't know how many other guys would have released a 40lb. + striper like the one you got today. Kudos for you.

CONGRAT ON A VERY NICE FISH. GLAD TOO HEAR YOU LET THE BIG GIRL SWIM FREE. NICE JOB.
Re: FISHING REPORTS...
i got out after school and had two fish on snagged bunker come off. the first headed east and there wasnt a thing i could do to stop it. i've had some bigger fish and this fish was BIG. finally shook its head and threw the hook. the second also felt nice but i felt a bump and came back with clean cut leader. either a bass with a blue fighting for the bunker or just a big blue. that was it. parked on a street that i fish all the time and realized later on that i was in a handicap spot. :affraid: bunker will do crazy things to a mans head.

Re: FISHING REPORTS...
fish with a good crew today: tossin plugs, joefishingproblem, technologist, and sephus. i got the only a fish. a blue that hit a 3oz polaris. fish was so big that all watching the fight were thinking "i think he has a fish....does he have a fish?". meanwhile i was thinking "man, is this a fish?". so the huge one pound blue was released after unhooking. traveled some miles in search of something inviting. never found anything too exciting. good times with some good guys. heard word from guys along the way of 40 pound class fish in the morning. they can't eat forever.

Re: FISHING REPORTS...
enjoyed NUMEROUS phone calls all day saying how great it was all morning into the afternoon. had a pretty crap day to start on top of it. rick puts another nice bass on the beach and a few other people called me with their stories of bunker at your feet and bass everywhere. finally got out and made it down the road to the beach i fish first normally. there was a nice pod of bunker with fish busting. walked with them for a few miles casting snags and poppers. finally get some fish coming in close while watching the boats do the "snag, set hook, fight and release" over and over and heave a pencil out to the pod. hear an explosion and see my 10' arra which is not about two feet long in my hand. rod snapped below largest guide for no real reason. the plug was matched for the rating i was throwing. second arra that's snapped on me this year. i've owned them for quite a while and never had an issue. so joefishingproblem gives me a man hug and we make our way back across the desert to the truck. haven't had the best luck this year with the nicer blitzes. i'll be downstairs covered with beer bottles if anyone needs me.

Re: FISHING REPORTS...
Fished LBI last night and through till this morning with nothing but skates and doggies. Here's where it gets STRANGE. We come off the beach and up to our vehicles and notice that there are three sets of wet child sized bare footprints leading from the beach straight to our vehicles and all around them. There were several footprints under our vehicles and two large wet spots around Rob's front tires like someone pissed on them. The tracks then went toward the main road and split into three seperate directions. We were on the beach all night and didn't see anyone leave the beach.

Re: FISHING REPORTS...
Fished the back of OC last night, managed 3 bass from 19-27" on a little yozuri swimmer that looks like a small herring that I just randomly grabbed out of my bag.
Plugged the OC beach this morning with my buddy Jim, NADA. Lost my smitty spook due to a bad knot in my leader
Threw every lure I had in the pool I worked at today in stone harbor. Couldnt manage a bite!!!

Re: FISHING REPORTS...
Fished south end of LBI Thursday night from 7:00pm till 3:00am and only caught doggies. Ran up to the north end and caught a few winks. Went out on the north end Friday and pulled a bunch of fluke off the beach up to 17 1/2". Came in at 5:30pm and got some food and then back out to set up for chunking on the beach. Had to walk a good distance out to cast past the bar. Nothing from there, but I didn't get a chance to stay very long. A big storm came in, and when I see lightning I run like a scared little girl. Ran all the way home. Might head back down tomorrow at a shot at a keeper fluke from the beach.

Re: FISHING REPORTS...
hit the beach a little before sunrise. tossed a yellow super strike popper and yellow sand eel teaser. caught bluefish, hickory shad, and a bass just under keeper size. switched over to a bucktail to see if i could find a fluke to round out my catch and tied into a 4-5' stingray for a little over a half hour. came up behind a decent wave with the sun shining through from behind and got a good "holy @#%$" out loud from me on a deserted beach. joefishingproblem shows up with a gaff and proceeds to set up his stuff instead of helping (kidding joe). fish was getting tired so i started to horse it in a little more and saw the tail come across my braid and that was all she wrote. glad it got off when it did though since getting it back in would have been tough.

Re: FISHING REPORTS...
the rain fish today would have had guys frantic throwing snags into the black ball of bait a month ago. incredible how packed they would be and then the color would just disappear and reform somewhere else. saw one fluke on top with them. no blues, hichory shad, rays, etc. were invited to their party.

Re: FISHING REPORTS...
hit somonco tonight on some rock piles that always produce in the summer months. water temp really felt like it dropped a lot and the surf looked great for plugging. missed a nice fish last night in lake calm and warm water conditions so tonight looked even more promising. had a few hits and finally connected with a bass that went 34" on the fillet table. fish took a mag darter so deep that only leader was visible. on the way out i met up with someone who was loading a 43" fish into their truck. he also claimed to have had a short. beautiful looking fish. stomach contents were about two dozen crabs (calico and small crabs that resembled tiny green crabs)
