Team Fish Hawk Report - Rusty Joes Tourney
Got down late thursday night. wanted to pre fish for the tourney. Got up sat morning to a some what fishable bay. Down to the marina loaded up the boat and got some bunker fresh off the netters boat Headed out in the 20+NW wind and to a shallow area. Got beat up on the way out but once we got on the hook it was fishable. The wind was against the tide, and we had line were one way and the boat was the other. Marking lots of bait fish and solid marks on the bottom. We hooked up with our first fish a skinny 30".
At the top of the tide we get a decent 38" fish.Along with a few monster blues.
Tide finally turned and laid down. Back in alittle after 2, no need to fish all day knew that there were some fish around.Satruday got up super early because the tourney started at 6. Got down to the boat at 545 and was on the water by 6. Went right to the spot we prefished only to not be able to hold anchorSo with that headed out to deeper water across the street. BLUE FISH BLUE FISH AND MORE BLUE FISH. Big ones too, kept 1. after a few hours of that decided to head back to the Nj side. Back over and 26ft of water with only one short at 27". Down the bay alittle bit to another area which almost always produces for us....nothing. Back to the dock with nothing to weigh and a tired and cold crew. Sunday got down to the boat and hour behindon the water by 7 and the plan was to goto the spot on friday in shallow water and stay there all day. A hour or so into fishing we manage a slender 35" bass. Shortly after the blues show up. We kept one for the scale, and threw or broke the others off by the boat. At the top of the incoming we finally put a decent fish on the deck..
42" 24.6lb bass, good enough to take 8th. Not a paying position, but after saturday and nothing to show, it sure felt good Back to the dock shortly after to enjoy the food and company at the marina. Nice to see everyone again, new and old. Cant wait for next year!
