Reel Lock Box
I made this box last year or the year before. The protective rubbers were shot and I decided that I would go to the Hunter rod vault. Today I took the box off my truck and the next thing you know I wound up redoing everything over.
I figured that if I was going to spend 200 on the Hunter 2 rod vault I might just as well spend only a few dollars redoing mine and have a more secure way to keep my reels safe. Not much wind resistance, it's about the same length as one of those Thule boxes and the mu kayak sits higher than the box.
This thing is bolted in 4 spots to my rack the lock on the side can't be cut because the bar is short and bolt cutters can't get to it and when the reels are in it they are hidden so no one really knows what kind of reels they are anyway.
(sort of out of site out of mind)
I know that some will say the racks can be cut but they can be cut with the Hunter vault too.The big difference is that no one can walk by and remove a handle or spool from my vs like can be done on the rod vault.
When it come down to it though if someone wants something they will get it and nothing short of leaving your stuff at home or staying with it will stop them.

Great idea Andy [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]
Out of site out of mind. It looks like it would take a stick of dynamite to get into that box without the key.
Hey 75 I got my racks off ebay, they were used, but worked great.
You can also get them from their site try googling them.
