I was just curious if anyone has ever turned a plug out of stabilized wood.

I've used it before . But I still sealed it and E-texed the finished plug when I was all done.

It's a piece of wood that they impregnate under pressure with a preserver like propionate.
It is supposed to be water resistant and won't warp or swell or shrink after the process.
They use stabilized wood for making things like knife handles and pistol grips.

Exactly what charlie said, they force a resign into it under extreme high pressure. It adds alot of weight to the piece of wood and they can dye it different colors.

just checked that site out and there is some really cool looking wood on there but man is it pricey for a small piece of wood. looks like it could make a sweet plug out of it though.
