Needle Fish question Empty Needle Fish question

I have made a couple needles out of cedar but I have to way them to much if I want them to sink. What wood do you use to make your needles....I'm hoping to get something that comes in something like 1 1/2 by 1 1/2 balusters maby even a little smaller. Thanks

mahogany or birch

get it 1" or 3/4" thick, and rip it down to 1x1 or 3/4x3/4 depending on what size you're going for.

(I like 3/4" square)

I'm in Howell, NJ.

Any one have any idea where I can get either BIRCH or MAPLE in the 3/4 or 4/4 in larger boards that go4broke talks about.

Even a 4/4X4"X4' (8' even better) would make quite a few blanks.

Any local sources would be appreciated. I've seen dowels before, but prefer to have the square ends to work off of.

Thanks,
Dave
