So i was at Dick's tonight grabbing stuff to tie bait rigs up with and happened to notice the Kayak paddling jackets like this -

Would these be an acceptable alternative to a dry top like the Aquaskinz? I like the price tag and it was lightweight, I wore one before for whitewater rafting and found it much more comfortable.

AK - thanks for posting this. I can't answer your question, but it does seem like a very good price for a quality light weight top. I'll have to stop by that store and check it out.

The only problem I have with the ones at Dick's was that they are bright yellow.... But for the price, I think Im just going to pick one up and test it out.

Dude

You get what you pay for!!!I am not a Cheerleader for Aquaskinzs , but the Raptor top is the best dry top out there !!!!!

Their other products are so so , bags suck unless you pay 400 bucks for one ...

So try one out and do a product review

I bought a Gill dry top from Tackle Direct at the Somerset show and so far so good. I was all ready to buy the AS Raptor but it cut off the circulation to my head....it was a XXL but it just would not fit. I am 5'10" and 215lbs and I gues I worked out mu neck too much??? The Gill jacket has a zippered neck that has an adjustable seal. Best of all it was 120$. They had another one that was more like the Raptor but it cost more than the Raptor. I was not going to spend 265$ on a jacket that I was unsure of but....maybe I should have.

Is it the lightweight windbreaker style or is it the heavy neoprene? Id rather have something I wont be burning up in if the sun is pounding down, I like my wetsuit for diving but Im in the water when I wear it lol!

x3 for the AS raptor. Ventured a bit too far on a jetty in the fall during a NE'er and took one right over the head. Stayed completely dry. The neck gasket is a bit tight at first, but I got used to it. Your face is suppose to turn blue right? :suspect: ... Just kidding. The only thing is the waist isn't completely sealed. Not sure what would happen if you were wading out to a bar. I assume water would be able to get in. I think it's great for jetty and beach fishing. If I was going to do any real wading or swimming I would probably go with a wetsuit.

Boys the raptor neck can be cut . I am 63 220 and my head is a huge mellon .

So you take a brand new razor and a coffee can and cut off a little at a time until happy .

My head had been under water with the Raptor and not a problem ..

A step up from that piece of crap EVO2 ....You get what you pay for , i beat it to death last season and it came back for more ...

This season I will put the VS200 made in china and the Lami SSU 120 1 M threw a beating , i will try to kill them both ..Say your the best time to prove it ...No Mercy shall be shown !!!!

I have to say the VS200 is so nice and tight and the drag is so sweet .......

If i cant kill them then i can recommend them ..The raptor is the Shit
