Fish Hawk "Holiday weekend" report
As everyone knows we had hurricane earl tracking up the east coast this past week. Everyone was worried about where and who was gonna get hit and weather or not to pull their boat. Ill admit, i was worried one. We left the boat in the water, had doubled up on the lines and rode it out. They forecasters said that friday would be the worst. We got down late friday night to slight and light winds out of the west and clear skies Woke up saturday morning to a strong sustained 25 mph out the west gusting to 40. There were 4 foot waves breaking on the beach. Havent seen that in years. Going out in the bay was out the question, so we decided to try in the creeks for perch and maybe even a bass. Anchored up and tried to sit straight with the wind and tide. Didnt really happen. Caught a few nice sized perch(8-12") and one big eel. Anchor broke lose and pushed us almost in the grass so we called it quits. Sunday was almost the same, except the winds were 10-15 out the NW. Tried to get on a wreck but didnt happen. Moved out towards the channel and anchored up around some structure and caught a bunch of micro sea bass and few snags, shortly after headed back in. Monday was the best day forecast wise. Slight and light in the morning and picking up in the afternoon. Plan was to fish the outgoing tide for drum. Picked up 2 dozen + shedder crabs and headed out to the drum grounds. The ride out was ruff, really ruff.We had a falling tide with a pushing against wind. After hour trying to anchor up we finally got situated. And bailed micro sea bass, sharks, sharks and more sharks. After dealing with that for awhile tried somthing different. Thought of the theory"Big bait= Big fish" so instead of the usual small peice of shedder, put on a half thinking the smaller fish would stay away. They did for the most part, and then it wham bam rod was bent and smile was on my face. Drag was screaming and after a few mins a of a battle riss netted my fall drum.

Heres the pic of the eel..
The first weekend off october is when we start bassin. So from now till then its gonna be up in the air if we head out. As far as toggin goes, we havent really had good weather to get setup on the small wrecks we have in the bay. So heres untill the "cows" come home
