Braided Lines
What is the better braided line? Fireline original seems to get a lot of wind knots. Fireline crystal seems like it starts to fray with time. Cabela's recommend Sufix. Alot of people use Power Pro. Anyone use Daiwa Samurai which has a equivalent 6#mono for 30# braid? Any feed back is appreciated. Thanks.

Re: Braided Lines
call me MONO MAN. dont know why but i just dont like braid. also i like knowing i only have 20lb test on there and have to be careful when fighting a fish. also lost my biggest bass with braid from a boat. got buried in the spool and snapped. next day there was 25lb mono on the reel. guess i'm just old fashioned and resistant to change. I dont catch very much either so maybe i have to rethink my stubborness.

Re: Braided Lines
I also use power pro 30lb. and do get some birds nest also, talked to a guy on the beach, he says he never gets them.....he uses a barrel swivel above his leader and says it stops the line from twisting. Not sure if that's true but it does make sense.....going to give it a shot...why knot.

Re: Braided Lines
30# Green on my bait rods, 20# on my pluggin sticks. I also use a barrel swivel. Gonna bump up to 40# on the bait rods (got a good deal w/aok steve on a spool) afyer this season.

Re: Braided Lines
I was using Power Pro on all my rods and started having problems with line fray on my wreck rods so I switched everything to Sufix Braid. Haven't had any problems since the change.

Yea but idk if I want to pay around 50 - 60 bucks for 300 yards for some daiwa if theres not even a definite possibility of getting no windknots at all.

Re: Braided Lines
I take back what I said about getin wind knots got 4 in am today. Its def worth the 50 or 60 bucks. My my Vs150 I use 40 and on my 200 I use 50. With the 200 I never got a wind and up till today never got one with my 150. I dont get it.

Re: Braided Lines
I still love my fireline 30lb it is alot stronger than the rating that is for sure.It is not as sensitive as the pp to abrasion and the wind knots seem to be less with the fireline.Tuff line i havent had any problems wit it unlike the pp i dont feel like their lighter lines 30 lb and under are any good have had alot of breaks lifting small fish over the side with it.btw fire line is still good when it starts to loose its color and get a little fuzzy.

Re: Braided Lines
40 PP WORKS WELL. I ALSO USE BERKLY BIG GAME BRAID 50 LB. THEY BOTH HOLD UP AND VERY FEW WIND KNOTS.BOTH OF THEM WILL PULL BIGER FISH THEN THEY ARE RATED FOR..
