Can anyone identify this fish???

Took a ride to IBSP this morning and found this on the beach being picked apart by the gulls.
About 4' long, 3 rows of sm. teeth on bottom jaw (top jaw too destroyed) ,thick quater size scales.
Unfishable down there today, wind blowing dead east 35-40mph.

Scales make me want to say that this is from the drum family. But I'm not certain.

I have to say that just might be a drum! The scales match up. Why would someone let that fish die on the beach!? I would have thrown it back in the water if I didn't want it.

What about a shark?? Do u think a shark might have gotten to this fish???Looks as tho theres a chunk of the fish missing...
