Old Man Specials
Saw a post about how the" Old Man " likes smaller plugs with only a rear hook and I knew from the past that it can be tricky getting them to swim right. So I decided to give it a try. Well it took quite a bit of trial and error to get it right.
After getting it to swim I sent it to the old man for testing and received a positive report, although it didn't include any fish being caught, but that is understandable since there aren't any fish in RI. I then decided to make a couple for myself to try from different types of wood. Now all I need to do is wait for the spring so I can try them out. White has an old man tail and blue is a whitey tail. Almost forgot, 4 1/2 " x 1.25 oz.

Re: Old Man Specials
Damn Frank that white one is oh so sweet.
I might have to go to RI this spring just to try and hoe that plug off him
At his age he might never notice, then again. Nevermind.
Great Job on them Frank you are a master at those hand carves

....striper snack....
... I had forgotten to get the camera out - at my age nothing surprises me ...
...so this is the peanut bunker version that Frank sent me in early December..
...I found out after testing that I could get away with a 6/0 O'Shaughnessy. ... the 7/0 seemed to be too much of a good thing...plus I didn't want to lose the ability to pause the retrieve and have the plug come back to the surface so I may twitch it a few times before I start to reel again...(remember that nonsense Winch ?!?!?)
...most of you guys would want the weight doubled ...this scales in at a whopping 1.0 oz ...WITH the split ring and tail hook.... I love it !!!
...so IF we EVER get fish back up here in RI ....I'll hafta keep track of how many tail slaps and swirls before it pisses off a bass into engulfing it so I can hang it on my wall ...
..Thanks again Frank
