Tying Teasers
I am getting my feet wet with this, got one question. Why does the bucktail turn on the hook, it can slide up or down. Any help will be apreciated. Thanks

Re: Tying Teasers
tossin,
What you do is wind thread on the hook first before you add any bucktail. This will keep the bucktail in place Add the bucktail and wind a few loose turns to fasten the bucktail to the hook. Using your fingers, move the bucktail around the hook so you don't have any open spaces. Then finish tying the bucktail down with tighter wraps. Hope my explanation is satisfactory?

Yep a few loose wraps then a tight one to cinch and hold in place.Do this with all material. If you really want to learn. I suggest you go to Bob Clousers web site.I am sure you have heard of a Clouser minnow.Bob and Lefty Kreah have made a few videos together on fly tying. They give a lot of little tips that will have you doing good in no time. They may be on DVD but I got the VHS format awhile back. They are worth every penny and then some. These guys are two of the best teachers and they have fun doing it.Which makes it fun to watch.

Re: Tying Teasers
Russ thanks for that excellent display of how to tie a teaser. And I didnt use glue to the end, so now I get head cement and follow your instructions, also I was putting all the bucktail on at once. another mistake I was making. and I was using 5 minute devcon to finish. do you whip to finish or half hitch knot. I like the eyes and red effect sweet work as usual from you Russ. again thanks and one day I will make it out there for a hands on display.

Re: Tying Teasers
Just picked up a cheap vise and some tying materials from the guy at Asbury. He had losts of teasers, bucktails, shad dart etc...just to the right as your entered the hall...I forget his name. Picked up some white and chartreuse bucktail. Figured this is enough to get me going and to see if I like it...which I'm sure I will.
