Re: VanStall Size Buying 1st One
I personally would go with the 200. The 250 would work on an 11ft rod but I feel it's way to large and heavy for a 9ft rod.

ON A 9 FT ROD GO WITH A 150. ON 10 FT TOO 11 I DO THE 200, SEEMS TOO WORK WELL FOR ME.
Re: VanStall Size Buying 1st One

i agree. i put a 150 on my 9ft mojo and thought it was a great match. din't get the reel though. a little to pricey for me at this time but it sure felt good

Re: VanStall Size Buying 1st One
HH if I read your question right you wanted to know what VS reel, (1 reel to use on both rods) would work on both the 9ft and 10.6ft rods. The 150 is to small for a 10.6ft rod I believe. Remember it's not just the weight of the reel, it's how it casts on the rod . Try both on your setup and see what you think.

i agree 100% with charlie 150 way too small for a 10.6...200vs will do u perfect that is wat i have also...i traded my vs250 for the 200 because it can both be used on a 9 foot and an 11 foot rod...i think you would be very unhappy with the 150 on ur 10.6..the rod would be way unbalanced and not cast nearly as far..

he is looking for 1 reel not 2..150 has way to small of a spool for distance casting on the 10 foot

Van Staal Decision
Just a thank to everyone who replied. I made my decision. I purchased the 200 and can't wait to use it this weekend.

Re: VanStall Size Buying 1st One
I'd agree with the votes for the 200.
I started out with a 200 on a 9' factory Lami Super Surf & it was fine.
Then I bought a 10' version of the same rod & shared the 200 between the 2 rods.
Finally I bought a 150 which I use on the 9 footer & it has become my favorite setup.
It's light as could be, casts great & can handle anything I'm capable of catching.
Go with the 200, you won't regret it.

Vs 200 for sure!
I have a 250 on a 10ft which is too big except when the conditions are really rough. the 250 would be way too big on a 9ft rod.
I can't complain 'cuz the rod/reel was a gift from my wife. what's a few ounces anyway!!!
Good luck!

704 is way too big on a nine foot rod.......unless it's a heavy fiberglass rod!
