Spray Can painting
Hey guys, I have a few unpainted lure kits that I have been meaning to get some color on. So far I have put a couple coats of primer on, not trying to get too fancy I just have a couple questions.
If Im trying to get a multi color effect (for example I want to have a needle with an orange belly, yellow sides, and olive back) would the best way to go about this be painting the plug yellow, letting it dry, then giving it a mist of olive on the back, then a mist of orange on the bottom?
Also if Im trying to get a scaled effect, in this case a black plug with silver scales, would I paint the plug black, let it dry, then put some mesh over the plug and mist it with silver?
Thanks for your help!

I would do it exactly like how you described it. You're right on track. Good luck with it.

Re: Spray Can painting
yup sounds like your doing ok......
only thing i would do different is with the multi colors i like to apply the 2nd color or 2rd while the 1st is still wet so it blends better....
you can do some cool paint with cans

OK, you need a list: lathe, table saw, band saw, belt sander, shopvac, dust extraction system, compressor, 6 Iwata's. Your Dad is so generous.

Re: Spray Can painting
Those are looking very nice, very nice indeed. I think you better send one to me for a closer inspection.
Are you using BLO to seal your plugs? If so, how long are you soaking them and how much time are you letting them dry?

Its my first time doing this so I did what I have gathered from reading what others do. I had BLO lying around so I used that, let them soak for about 10 minutes then hung em to dry. They seemed dry after 4 days and I havent had any issues with the primer or paint sticking to them so far. Im thinking about trying the method where you bake the plugs then soak them in epoxy next time since you can start painting them a lot quicker. Im impatient lol
