I desided to build a flounder rod this winter. I found a nice Gusa Blank and desided on a split grip baitcasting setup. But went over the deep end and made it a spiral wrap guide setup.[img]

next after a lot of sanding it came out like this.[img]

I used Ambonia wood to make end caps for the grips[img]

My camera skills could be better.
and the final product looks pretty good , but now we need summer and some cooperating fluke.

Nice Charlie,, looks like a piece of art. Having just taken a rod building class I have a better understanding of these things now,, good job my friend.

Fluke fishing is when you catch something on accident.
Flounder fishing is targeting those flat fish that the gov. can count correctly.

I see I'm a little late to this thread, but I love the rod. I have a custom build spiral wrap 8' that I use for chucking bait matched to a Penn surfmaster that I magged. but seeing yours makes me want to tear it down and start over. Nice work
