10 /30/09 LBI Morning Report

Light breeze, water temp 54 degrees, holding with 6oz

Figured I would try a different spot this morning so I fished in Ship Bottom from 7AM till around 11:30. Slow start. Nothing happening. Not even a knockdown. I decided I was going to leave around 9, so I am putting my clamming rod on the truck when I see my bunker rod go down. Hooked up. Finally. First fish in 3 days. Turns out to be a bluefish about 4 pounds. Let him swim. At this point I figured maybe I better hang for a while longer. Put the rods back out. About 30 minutes later the same rod goes down. Hooked up this time with a bass. 32 inches and about 14 lbs. When I cleaned the fish it had 4 undigested cut bunker baits in its belly. Fished till 11:30 with no other hits. Workin all weekend so I won't be able to get out again till Monday.

Glade you hooked up, No fish for 3 days over the weekend for me also, ran down to Loveladies last nite for the tide from philly , threw a bunker chunk and watched it go south w/ 8oz on the rig , pulled that out and sent in a clam 15 mins later a light tap and came in a fat 24 inch Bass not much of a fight w/ the weight of the rig but it shook off the Skunk. Just gotta hang in there.
