rod and van stall reel lost on l.b.i
when i was fishing today around 7am a fellow fisherman was launching his yak next to me and took a wave as he was getting on.
when the wave hit him it took hos rod and reel down and in to the surf i waded over to help him find it but it just got sucked out real fast.
poor guy man i wish i could have done more for him but it just did not work out.
i told him i would post this on the site since you guys seem to always be honest it just might show back up..
any way if you find a rod and reel with a gold van stall on it i know who lost it and im sure he will be a member here as well....

I guess that he didn't have anything leashed or did they break? Good lesson for all to leash anything you really want.

That's right in the stretch that I normally fish along with several others. I'll put the word out among the group. Hopefully it's recovered and returned.

awesome saltline...
he is a local so you might have seen him or even know him.....he drives a black pickup truck....
nice guy and hate to see him walk away with out his gear i even told him he could fish the day with mine but he had back up rods..
not much of a rip today and what rip we did have it felt like it was going north so i would think if it comes back in it would not be to far north of 30th

Smitty, I just got back from LBI. While I was there I ran into the guy at the deli. He hasn't gotten it back yet, but he got word from a couple divers that they might have spotted it stuck between some rocks in the inlet. They are going to dive on it on low tide in the day to see if it is it. He seems like he is over the loss but he definitely had a bit of exitement in his voice when he said it might be found.
