Bunker Kill off

Here's a pic of the first of the Bunker kill off by the Blues. Nothing up in the Peconic River yet but it will be coming. This is Indian Island in Riverhead.

Goooood God! Id be out there with a bag grabbin as many as I could.... How dead were they?

every year we see this by us too but they always say its the water temp inside the harbor that kills em off. How did those die !!!!!

I know last year there were stories in the papers about something in the river killing them and the lack of oxygen. They could be dying from lack of oxygen but these I know for a fact were driven up on the beach by lots of feeding bluefishbecause I was there when it was happening. When they're up in the river dying off it's still the blues driving them up there. There may just be too many and they die from lots of oxygen but they have nowhere to go but back to the blues if they go down river.

RUNNING FOR THERE LIVES. THEY THINK ITS SAFER ON THE SAND WRONG. UP BY US ITS 2 OR 3 TIMES THE BLUES RUN THE LG BUNKER OUT ON TO THE SAND. THEY DRIVE THOUSANDS OF PEANUTS UP ON THE BEACH EVERY YEAR.

They died when the bluefish ran the pods up onto the beach, most of them had pieces taken out of them..You know that whole fish out of water thing

The older ones die after the spawn this time of year. They do die of old age also.
