Hey RB Guys - Question.
I was just curious if all the fish being caught now are after lights out? My son has been begging me to take him "surf" fishing but the wife is not too happy with it being at night. I was going to take him down on Saturday morning possibly but wanted to know if any fish are being caught during the day.

Re: Hey RB Guys - Question.
I have to check the weather and tides for Sat morning. If it looks good I'll have my son get to bed early and maybe we'll leave at 5:00am. Problem is where to get clams that early?

Re: Hey RB Guys - Question.
Nowhere to buy clams near me. Not alot of uses for them in Northwest NJ. I need a B&T thats open on my way to the Bay

What way will you be taking? Rt287 to the parkway or 287 to Rt9 south?

Most likely Parkway to 1st exit over bridge and then jumping on Rt 35 South.

Fred's on Rt. 35 in South Amboy should be open by the time you're passing it. It'll be on your right about 5-10 miles after you get off the Parkway.
Don't know their hours. Give them a call: (732) 721-4747.
There's also Crabby's on Rt. 35 in Keyport. They open around 0500 or so.

If you are going that way Freds or Crabbys in Keyport are both good choices. If you are fishing Union Beach area and east of that, take the Parkway to exit 117 and hit the Tackle Box. Cris over at Crabbys is good on the info as to where and when the fish have been hitting and will give you the honest facts. Good luck I may be out there this friday if it rains.
