More Old Grounds Flounder 7-20-12

After we called off our offshore trip due to poor conditions and decided to have the boat's auto pilot upgraded, I jumped on the Thelma Dale in search of those doormats. Conditions were a little nautical, but not really as bad as predicted. There were 20 other brave souls aboard including a few of the Fine Athletes.


Steamed to a spot on the southern edge of the Old Grounds and it was another day of steady constant action. I dropped two fish that felt really nice (the ones that got away). Manged to box a few keepers and about a dozen sea bass as a bonus!


Drift was fast but you could still work a bucktail up until around 2:30 PM when the wind shifted and the drift speed doubled.


Other then the great fishing the highlight of the trip was the Capt. helping out a Touron who kept bitching that everyone was catching but him.


Toroun: I am not getting anything - what are those guys doing, how come they are catching and I am not. . . . . . . . . (for about an hour!)

Capt.: You are holding your mouth the wrong way.

Touron: Wadda mean my mouth? The wrong way?

Capt. Yeah, it is open!
