NJ Offshore report (Sat July 14)
Broke the inlet about 5am and headed for the bluewater with a 4-man crew on my buddy's 25' Parker Pilothouse. We were greeted by 2'-3' seas as we embarked on our journey, which laid down to ones and twos as the morning progressed. Arriving at our planned location 35-40 miles off Barnegat Inlet about 2 hours later, we tossed out our 5 rod trolling spread consisting of green/rainbow spreader bars, a daisy chain, and a pair of cedar plugs. Trolled around for the morning with no luck, we stopped and butterfly jigged a few marks which turned out a few bluefish. Back on the troll, our wayback rod pulling the daisy chain goes off around noon. I grabbed the rod and come tight on a nice fish. Then the outrigger goes off on the 50W Penn International as Greg starts clearing lines, and he's tight. I boat and release a 20#ish bluefish, Greg hands the rod off to Jeff, and we box our first bluefin tuna at 36". The bite was on. Rods back out on the troll and 3 rods go off, with the TLD25 screaming on the wayback again. 2 more bluefish released, and Greg's tight on a nice fish. 10 minutes later, we put our second BFT in the boat. A nice 40 incher, which we released since we had our one and only allowed in the box. Rods back out and 3 go off again. I put our smallest tuna of the day on the deck, released, and 2 more blues for the boys. As quick as the bite started, it ended. 40 miles, each way, and 50 miles of trolling, we called it a day. Smooth seas back to the dock ended an amazing trip. Can't wait to get back out there.

Great stuff - I almost hate catching a BFT with the regs - especially if it not measuring towards the upper mark
