Fuji guides/rust any problem??
I have seen over many years that Rod Builders refer to Fuji guides. I agree, they are very good guides. However, their feet will rust, despite claims otherwise, .,.can you live with that. I have found, many can not.
The best guides can corrode, true/false?

Titanium ReCoil guids shouldn't corrode......with that being said I don't think they would work well with every application.

I am sure that a very high, cost ineffective item you will not see corrosion, but beware of the word "Titanium". Many guides are coated with a titanium colored plating. These are the worse yet, they corrode badly.

I didn't realize this was you Kevin. You would know better than anyone. So what are the "best" guides to use? Any Fish Poison surf rods yet?

Re: Fuji guides/rust any problem??
Most guides are as good as the next. It's just that people use these and are shocked to see them rust. The rust wouldnt bother me, but it does others. Pac Bay and Amtak make some good stuff. Fish Poison is a style/ALL BLACK, so any rod I build I offer in Fish Poison, $25 less per rod. Most people can afford the $25, but ALL black looks cool.

Re: Fuji guides/rust any problem??
Most all guides wil rust or corrode some day. A crack in thier finish or where the guide feet where preped by filing or grinding will corrode over time even if repainted. Thats life.

I got tired of chiped guides and breaking off fish. Now I only use titanium guides. Surf, boat and bridge rods.

Re: Fuji guides/rust any problem??
AK if they are really rusted they can be replaced. Try wiping them with WD40 to clean them. You might do better replacing them and see if you can improve the rods feel and casting when rewraping it. Maybe add one or more guides, or just strip overwraps and put new gudes on and just redo over wraps if lazy like me. I'd rewrap the whole rod tho.

Any guide is going to rust unless it is either not exposed to salt water or it is true titanium.
