Good Friday on the bay

Headed out with a buddy on his 17' seapro flats boat to find flat waters at noon time. we fished off reeds beach with nothing to show and made a run toward #1 bouy but stopped short when we seen huge bird play with gannets diving all around they were moving fast. We stopped close shut the motors down and i said to kieth to fish bottom portion of water colum with rubber swim shad (pearl paddletail) and ill fish to portion with swim baits (wood pikie green scale, yellow pink sides gary hull tiger) 1st cast kieth had a nice 8lb fish to boat soon as i came tight to lure i was on this went on for about 50min from 1:45pm to 2:55pm soon as tide turned .

fish ranged from 23" to 38" we had quite a few double headers with fish exploding on swim baits. we found more gannets diving but no bait or bass..... we headed in around 3pm as wind picked up, water was 54 and we were fishing in 18ft of stained water im sure the bait around made the difference. two dozen brought to the boat just as many hooked and lost in the frenzy...

They have been having a great clam bite, but we usually fish lures 95% of time and we ggot lucky and used past knowledge fishing the bay to get atug on the line! We tried calling in a few boats only one came over and they had 3 fish.
