after sanding instead of epoxy can i use minwax lacorre to use as a waterproof coat?

i guess you could but i dont think it will hold up as well as a epoxy and will be more work in the long run i would think since you will have to put more coats of it on.

you really dont need to put a top coat on its just a added protector for the lure and a basic step for resale

The waterproof coat needs to penetrate the wood and I don't think lacquer would penetrate much if at all. I use minwax wood hardner and have had no problems although many builders prefere boiled linseed oil both have their own hazards so read the can and be especially careful with any rags used with the boiled linseed oil because they can spontaniously combust if not handled correctly (the BLO on the rag can generate heat while it evaporates/dries and start a fire without any spark or flame so be careful with the rags). I am careful with any rags/paper towels used with any flamable liquid and put them in a metal container outside so if they do ignite they will not cause any damage.

i use minwax as well wood hardener works great on softer woods it hardens seals and preserves the wood sands smooth and cost about 9 bucks a quart at home depot
