I have a reel spooled with 500+ yards of 50# powerpro that smells like mildew has anyone ever had this happen to them
any ways to get rid of the smell?

How old is the braid ?Also do you rinse off your reels after every use?

Fresh air, salt water and storing it in a vetalated area will get rid of that smell. In other words, fish it!

haha mildew yea i get it on the baitrunner 4500 when i dont rinse it off after 3 weeks! seriously im getting way to lazy Mb

Just bought the reel used and when I opened the box it smelled like mildew

THEN STRIP THE REEL. CLEAN IT AND REPLACE THE BRAID. WHO KNOWS HOW OLD THE BRAID IS.IT COULD BE ROITED. WOULD NOT FISH THAT BRAID.
