I really think I might make it this weekend, take alot of pics just in case,,,besides you guys flooding this page with pics and names, I hope you will post some of your fleamarket pics. in the surfchat, you know we will be waiting in drool,,, any bets on who gets drunk first.... affraid

Feb. Meeting

We will have a guest at this months meeting,Joe T Wrigley from the RFA will be on hand to speak and answer questions. The RFA is looking to put more of their efforts towards trying to help the surf fishing community.
If you would like to attend our meeting you need not be a member of our club. All are welcome!!!
Febuary's meeting will be on the 11th @ 7:30 pm,Horshum VFW.

The DVSA meeting has been canceled due to the snow.I will let every one know when the meeting with the RFA will be rescheduled.

"09" Awards Banquet

Well looks like our Jr members came into their own this year,they cleaned up at the banquet this past Sun.
Keith Lehman's son Jack took top honors among the youths, he took 3rd place in the ASAC YOUTH DIV. for largest and most fish pts.
Joe Kelly's (jkrodsandrigs) son Dan finished 8th for total fish pts. among ALL DVSA MEMBERS!
Nick Kelly finished in the top 20 total fish pts. among ALL DVSA MEMBERS!
My Son CJ also finished in the top 20 total fish pts. among ALL DVSA MEMBERS!
For their outstanding efforts in 09 they all received 460 Penn Slammers,plug + tackle bags filled w/rigs AOK Tackle T-HEX's Teasers of coarse,and they all received their jackets!
The rest of the awards went to:
Jane Jefferys,(whos Dad started DVSA 52YRS AGO!) Took top honors for Largest Kingfish, and most fish pts in the club. First time a woman has done this,and well deserved :queen: She fishes hard and smart!!!

I had a great time.I like the way the boys fished this year but what was really great was when they left for the bus stop monday morning wearing there DVSA jackets and still smiling from the night before.

Well the Penn Rep. Thomas Blecker who is also in charge of the service dept. here in Phila. came to our meeting last night. The man knows his reels!!! He answered all our questions,and gave us alot of info, not just about reel repair and maintainence, but about Penn as a company. Penn is now a subsidary of the Jardan investment group, under the heading of Purefishing.Some of the other company's that are represented are Berkley,Abu Garcia,Shakespeare,Fenwick,Mitchell,All Star rods,Stren,X-Tools,Spiderwire,Pflueger,Johnson,and IRC.
They're making the changes needed to get back into the fishing game at larger level and reclaim their status as one of the premier reel builders.
Some of the new 2010 model reels were on hand, unfourtunly the new Penn Torque was not there. All the avail. models are in the hands of their sales reps and feild test crew. The release date for them is mid may. Sorry Skippy .

Yo Skip..Yea This guy Tom really knows his stuff, he's taken the cleaning and repair Dept. and turned it around. Any reel that comes in has a 7-10 turnaround, all e-mails are persolally answered by him, and no reel goes out the door unless its its approved by him. Any Penn reel that no longer is being made(most have parts available), if parts can not be replaced they will offer the newer version or campatable reel for a 65% discount w/ trade.skippy wrote:
