News: Ortiz was reportedly among the approximately 100 MLB players to test positive for performance-enhancing drugs in 2003, the New York Times reports.
Spin: The results of tests from that season were supposed to remain anonymous, but since they have come out, Ortiz will of course come under scrutiny. When asked about the 2003 drug test on Thursday, Ortiz replied, "I'm not talking about that anymore...I have no comment." In any case, this situation has the potential to become a distraction for Ortiz, as the Red Sox continue to battle for a playoff spot in the AL.
