Junk fish? Apparently not.. Empty Junk fish? Apparently not..

Post  NJTomatoguy 5/31/2009, 3:59 pm

I go to a huge local asian supermarket every week. The veggies are WAY better than what i find at the local stores.
They have a huge fish section, with live fish, etc.
Today, they had stripper Very Happy, Eels,Tilapia, Dungeoness crabs, and live catfish.

They also had Sea Robins. I was surprised. Skate wings too.

Sea robins . $1.79 a pound whole.

Anyone tried them?

I'm gonna try doggie this year. Skate wings are very difficult to fillet but I bet they'd go great in a chowdah where the meat would fall right off the cartiledge.

I wish I lived up that way - I'd definately hit that market. Skate is by far my favorite and it is tricky to clean but there is a video instructional clip on the site plus lots of recipes.

Don't forget to check out the garbage fish tournament. Details are on the site.
