NJ Trout Season Opens Sat April 11

OK guys Trout season opens this weekend.

Let's take a little poll to see who's going and where.

I'll be going with 3-4 friends to the Rockaway River (either Denville or Boonton)

me and my dad are taking my grandpa so cant got anywhere we gave to walk far were hitting shadow lake

Dad and i will be fishing Harrisonville lake bright and early!!! Good luck everyone!

i haven't missed an opener in a long time, but we'll see about this year. it's getting to that time of year when you say "do i hit the bay, inlet, out front, ponds, rivers, lakes, my bath tub"....

normally it was be to spring lake for a shot at a salmon but that's when i lived in squan. might have to hit toms river where i fished growing up. some nice holes and a good shot at variety of fish.

That decision will have to be made friday night. With the rain that is forcasted this weekend it may ruin river fishing for me. I have a lot of options up this way, but I will either hit the South Branch of the Raritan River or a newly stocked lake if the river is messed up. Keep in mind guys if the water is still a bit stained the fish will key in on worms. Also get yourselves some Gulp garden worms(come in a jar) they can at times outperform the real thing. I've always done well with either nightcrawlers, baby nightcrawlers, or meal worms. I sort of hope it rains it will keep the pretenders away.

You have to admit though..it is fun to stand right next to those pretenders and pull out trout after trout.

Yeah but stocked trout are always a crap shoot. I can be there fishing a beaded nymph on a top of the line Orvis flyrod and have some guy in work boots standing next to me fishing with corn catching fish after fish. I'd rather have the stream to ourselves.

Kevin I would be the one in work boots catching the fish
