My mate, Rich (& fishing buddy) has a big Birthday. So I made him this. Want to thank everybody on this site for all your fantastic info, advice, pictorial lessons & videos that made lure-making possible for me. Particularly FJR, thanks mate.. Without all your generosity this would not have been possible. Jim.

Re: a present
Thanks for the nice comments, chaps. But you lot, as I said, were my inspiration. I thought it was an idea you would like, so I posted it. Can't claim credit for thinking it up, either. My mate Shaun, who is a keen pike fisher, gave me the idea when I gave him a plug to try.. said it was ''too pretty & he ought to frame it!"
I put hooks on, originally but they just dangled about & seemed to clutter up the picture, so I removed them & it gave a cleaner style to it that I like.
The frame is a real cheap one that I bought in a bargain shop in town, less than $10 for it , the glass & the card border. Then a strip of pine 1" x 3/8" to give the depth, lined with a strip 1" x 1/8", which holds the glass up front & creates a new recess in which the original back card fits (the little aluminium retaining strips are easy to pull out & reseat with a tap or two). The background is just a huge 'scale' stencil cut from paper & airbrushed on to plain white art paper (they look a bit more like bubbles though!), with another one for his age over the top. So it didn't take long to do & I'm glad you like it. Hope Richard does, too.
Jim.
