IBSP 11/14
My nephew has been asking me to take him surf fishing so I took him to the Park on Mon for his birthday.
The weather was cooperating with a SW wind at around 15mph and gusts around 20 to 25mph. And got up to 63 degrees.
Started at the north end at daybreak and had 3 fish from 20in to 27in. 2 on metal and 1 on clam.
After the bite slowed we took a ride to the inlet to show him the beaches and fished the way back on the last of the outgoing.
We got a little north of the entrance at A7 and I decided to fish a break in the bar there. Had no hits for about 1 1/2hrs till all of a sudden the bite started up again and we had 5 fish in about 1 1/2hrs then it turned off again.
Fish hit both metal (T-Hex & AVA with teasers) and clam. Also missed a few fish that day that came unbuttoned and not landed.
Took one keeper for him to take home for dinner.
It was a great day and he really enjoyed it. So did Uncle Chuck.
and I caught to
This seemed to be what they were feeding on and lots of them around now. These bass are real fatties.

Re: IBSP 11/14
It was easy Bob, I called in a report of large bass blitzing at a north Jersey jetty. And I could hear the cell phones ringing all up and down the beach
And every one ran
And every one ran

Re: IBSP 11/14
charlie, ever use sandeels for bait? i was wondering if a bass would hit a rigged one. i was thinking of using a fluke rig type of setup with 2 hooks snelled to 1 line and hook them twice. any thoughts?

Great report - and awesome photos!
I tried a sand eel last week and immediately got a hit! Unfortunately, it was a fluke not a striper, LOL
I am sure that a rigged sand eel would work great
Re: IBSP 11/14
thanks capt. i want to change it up this fall. gonna try some. i would assume the bait shops would still have frozen sand eels. getting tired of bunker and mullet, and sand eels are around now so we will see.
