crab size question
im not a crabbing person but my daughter wants to go crabbing this weekend.
problem is im not sure what the size is and how to measure them i think i recall you measure from point to point is this rite and how big??????
i know i know i should know this but sorry not my cup of tea....

Hey smitty I think that if you put your finger by the claw and it bites until a tear comes to your eye then it's big enough. Have Fun crabbing

Crabs are measured as you said, point to point.
Softshell - 3 1/2 inch minimum size
Hardshell - 4 1/2 inch minimum size
recreational limit - 1 bushel daily.
Season March 15th to November 30th,
Delaware Bay and tributaries- April 6th to December 4th.

Smitty the smaller keeper crabs are hardly worth eating, anything 5.5 and up is much better. If you get enough steam them all at once then clean them after cooking and after they cool down, crab meat makes an excellent topping for salads and steaks and stuffed fish fillets!
