Re: Snagging Rig Hooks???
I go with a 10/0 on the ocean/side..The bunkers must be on the beach..
Re: Snagging Rig Hooks???
depends i'll usually snag with one rod and fish with the other. to fish them i use about 7/0, to snag i use 10/0 weighted treble or if they are out a ways use a 10/0 unweighted and crimp an egg sinker about 1 ft from the hook. on 50lb mono. snag and flip the baitrunner and hold on.

Re: Snagging Rig Hooks???
I USE 10 / 0 FOR SNAGGING AND 4 / 0 SNAGGERS FOR SNAG AND HOLD. IT LETS THE BUNKER SWIMM BETTER WITH THE SMALLER SNAGER IN HIM.
BIG RED LETTERS!!!!!!!!!

Re: Snagging Rig Hooks???
It was earlier, but I heard that they came in at Ocean Grove around the fishing pier later. It was as usual a chinese fire drill with all the action. One guy had three on the beach all of em over 20 lbs in my estimation. They are right on schedule according to last year and the year before. Keep an eye on Allenhurst this week etc, they are due.... salt

Yeah, if you can get down there regardless of the time or tide you have a chance to score.... Tell ya though, that jetty jumping etc is a young mans game, by the time I get there I am too pooped to pop..... salt

Re: Snagging Rig Hooks???
I also have the smaller treble with an egg sinker. I have yet to use it but picked up the idea at Surf Day a few years ago. The idea was to just slightly nick the bunker leaving more hook exposed for an easier hook set.
It is actually doubled through the egg instead of crimped on.
