Destiny Gets Her First 40+" Striper

Destiny, my little girl who is 11 and my fishing partner asked me to make a suicide run for some stripers today after picking her up from school. How could I say no?

We headed out, got to the spot and there were already people there. I set up on another spot and it didn't take long. The 1502 was bent over and the Saltist was squeelin'. I told Destiny to get the rod, so she grabbed it. She set the hook and it was on. All I heard was "oh lord, oh lord". She fought the fish for a bit and it was going back and forth between the two. I thought she was going to loose it, but she was relentless.

I saw she was shaking after a few minutes in the battle. I asked her if she was OK and she said, "yep" with a grunt and a chit eating grin. She got the fish to the surf and she scared the chit out of me when she yelled after seeing how big it was.

The fish was 40 1/2"L with a 24 1/2"G. She is too much like her daddy, she kissed it and sent her on her way. I did manage a 33" striper today. She will remember this day for a long time, the day she whooped dads arse on the stripers. I'll let the pics tell the rest of the story.

Way to go, nothing like a smile on your kid's face when you take em fishin brings back memories of my dad takin me fishin when I was a kid.
