what would be the best sealer to seal wood before painting?

there is no best sealer its whatever works best for if using BLO becareful with the rags they can catch on fire.

Some guys use the BIN sealer you buy at Home Depot, some use spar varnish. Whatever you use just make sure it is completely dry before you prime.

Sealer/Primer

I seal with Waterlux marine, then prime with Zinser. After sealing I dry at 110 degrees for 8 hrs., then prime & dry for 2 hrs. at same temp.
