I'd have to say my best trip this past season was in July fluke fishing in the bay. Was down for a few days for vacation and over those few days me and my family manage to get 20lbs or more of fillets and all fish measured 20-26 inches long. Still have fluke in the frezzer now and it's vaccum packed so when it's cooked taste as fresh as the day we caught it.

So what was everyone's best trip of this past season?

well i had some best trips this season with charlie G.... first off early spring charlie put me on some bass useing bait i realy dont fish with bait at all......it was alot of work......then me and him hit the back bay flyswattin for what ever and we picked up a couple of bass and a bunch of blues... i must say i didnt even see any bunker moveing southword like i use to not a good year but not a bad year eather.....just being out there seeing nature was good to

but when you fish your ass off and cant even get a bump....along flys an osprey and snatches a blue fish right in front of you..... mother nature can be cruel ......best trip of the season 177925

It was a slow year for me but I did have a few good trips. In my older age I think being with the right people and a few fish is all I need to make it a great day.

As Bruce said I also had a great time with the long rods with him wading and casting the Barnegate bay flats.

And I had to twist his arm to bait fish. But by this picture it payed off.

I hope everyone has a great season next year.

My best day, over here, was the one I posted the other month. Boat trip. I had 5 bass that day & to put it in perspective, my total bass catch this year was.. yeah, you guessed it.. 5 fish! Ha ha.
To be fair, I haven't been sea fishing much this season. Mostly freshwater fishing for what we call 'silver' fish (the prey species that pike & perch like to eat). It's very relaxing & gets you out in the countryside, I like the peace & quiet.
I normally fish the fly for the wild brown trout but a very hot, dry summer put paid to that for most of the season.. following on from a cold biting spring that did not encourage me to get out after them.
Listen to me? Must be getting old.. better give up plug-making & start whittling on them old walking sticks!!
As it's generally quite mild here in the winter, I do get some nice winter sport;

For pike,

& roach, in the fresh..

For grayling..

For chub..

And in the sea for cod & whiting & even the occasional bass, last year I got one as a surprise in December!

Had some awesome Bass fishing late spring  - all from boats

Still looking for a 50lber

Cape Cod canal was good but not "epic" Cape Cod bay was epic but again a boat trip

Loaded up on Mahi Mahi off OC MD and that was indeed Epic - especially in a 19 ft boat

FW fishing was never on fire but steady as she goes all summer

Biggest FW bass was only around 8 lbs this year  - far below what I normally do but still a world of fun

Ahhhhh maybe a few tog trips and a cod trip and then the long wait for spring!

Plan is to hit the SH Rips hard once I get back from DE in May!

Looking forward to fishing with a few more of the SBO gang - Happy Fishing and a Merry Catching!

My best trip of 2013 would have to be when we got into the bass this past fall. Both my dad and I were able to get 2 bass each. One was a 32" and the other was a 28 1/2". Was a father/daughter day!!!

Thanks JimfishUK!!! they both gave a good fight. We had one other and it popped the hook right in the wash and the current was so strong, I couldn't grab it fast enough to save it from washing away without myself didn't hit by a wave lol
