Hitting the Reefs

Out on the ocean with Andy today. It started off a bit choppy and breezy, but calmed out beautifully. We hit one Reef and worked a variety of structure, but only got small Sea Bass bites. FInally nailed a whopper of about 6". We moved North and tried two spots we'd never been to before. Few other boats there, and like them, we were skunked. So, we raced back South to yet another Reef. We drifted over a rubble pile and finally found some Flounder. We ended up with 3 nice keepers, 22.5" and two at 20.5". More small Sea Bass and Porgies than I ever wish to see again. The wind died out and we moved to another wreck. While there, we had 2 Cobia cruise up to us. We couldn't find live Eels this morning, so we brought some I had rigged. The Cobia followed them nose to tail, but wouldn't bite. Tried a Bucktail, Peanut Bunker, and even a Sea Bass. They would follow anything we tossed near them, but wouldn't bite. Killed us! To add insult to injury, this happened 3 more times. Next time I will find live Eels! We also saw 4 Cobia leap out of the water which was quite the spectacle. We tried a few other spots, but only found small Sea Bass, and the damnable black flies were trying to eat us alive, so we called it a day.
