3-18 Report with Pix!!!

Decided to do something i never attempted before for pickerel today...live lining sunnies!! I dug up a bunch of worms, caught about a dozen sunnies/bluegills from 3-6" then brought out the wire and gami hook! For the first hour, i didn't find a fish and started to dislike this attempt...As time went on, i found some more submerged structure, anchored and let them swim. In total, i lost two medium sized fish, by pulling the hook too quickly and landed a nice 22" that absolutely engulfed the 5" sunny!!

It was awesome to work the food chain like that, i wouldn't want to be a sunny swimming around those waters...











The afternoon came and i decided to hit Daretown lake for a few hours, not much happening there either, found one small largemouth that hit my blue stick bait worked slow.

Nice job SteveO.......I usually catch most of my pickerel on live shinners and sunnies. I use TyGer leader...its knotable stainless wire then add hook and barrel swivel. Keep up the good work

LoL, just makin the most of my spring break man...thanks for the good words.

i wish i was 18 again! another great report steve-o! i hope maybe to get out some time next week. :evil:

Should be getting better around the 26th of march, and stay good for a couple weeks after that. That plus warm temps (hopefully) will help every piece of sweetwater.

nice fish...some of the biggest bass i or any of my friends have taken in this area were due to messin around with sunnies...its amazing to see how big of a sunny a largemouth can take in :shock:

im here in canada. we call walleye pickeral. those are cool. to me they look closer to our pike. do you eat them?.

woodie they are a chain pickeral, more like a small pike then anything else, nothing like the walleye/pickeral your thinking off(we are used too)
