Fishing this week
Well we have done some fishing this week with the great weather we have had.
Monday - headed out to one of the bridge tunnels we have in the area on a friends boat to try and find some Striper. As the storms rolled through we ducked under the bridge for cover from the rain and then headed back out to our spot to anchor up. After the sun started to set we finally put our first striper in the box and think this might not be bad. But that would be all we would do has the wind picked up and we headed for the dock.
Tuesday - was inlet day and we headed to Rudy inlet here in Virginia Beach for some Speckled Trout. We found them and proceeded to put a beat down on the fish. After a few hours we boated more trout than we could keep track of with no keepers. We did boat a nice Flounder and 5 puppy drum with three if those being keepers. Not a bad night and we went home with fish and sore arms.
Wednesday - we had to take a day off.
Thursday - Since the weather wazs going to be in the upper 80's a friend of mine called and wanted to go chase some Tog. After the rain we had on Wednesday and the wind that we had we didn't know what it would be like. Well it was a nice day but no fish. The rain had the water really dirty and we tried a number of our holes with no luck. BUt we did manamge some real nice Oyster Toads but that was about it for us. Tried to cast the islands for some striper but no one was home for that one either.
Friday - was another day of speckled trout and landed more trout but no keepers. The trout are getting bigger but they are just shy of the 14 inch minimum size limit. But if you don't mind throwing everything back in it is a blast to catch these fish. We did pull out another Flounder so we have a few fillets for this week to eat up with some crab meat. Great day on the water.
Saturday - Was offshore day. We left the inlet around 5:20 and headed for a break in the water to see if the Yellowfin were around. Get to the break and there was no one home. Birds everywhere but no bites. Head for a second break that we saw on the sat shot but the same no one was home. Looks like the off shore fishing is winding down for the year. But it was a great day on the water.
Here are some pics from the week.
