Help Me Please
i need help on how to sharpen my lathe tools because as they are dull they, dont cut the wood spinning to great anymore. so if anyone could please help me out by just telling me how to do it myself or if there is any places i could bring my tools to, to get them serviced either in staten island or nj close to the island....thanks
Re: Help Me Please
Hey Rubes I would sharpen them with a sharpening stone. Just for the heck of it try googling it or try looking on Youtube. There are alot of how tos on both of them.

for gouges, you can use a belt sander if you have one. And for skews, use a sharpening stone like Charlie says.

Re: Help Me Please
i use the belt sander and it keeps them nice for me. just dont let them get too hot. it will ruin the temper. fine belt and light pressure and keep some water handy to keep them cool.
