Real Newbie Question
OK Guys I want to know the correct order for these plug building steps....
1) Paint
2) Wire and hardware
3) Epoxy
I've been having my son paint and epoxy before I try and wire them and do the grommets etc. Is that the right way to do it or should we be wiring before the epoxy or even before the paint?
How does everyone do it? I'm guessing that the guys who are fully sealing their plugs wire them and epoxy the hardware even before they paint is that right?

Re: Real Newbie Question
I'm not sure there is a 'correct' order, it depends on what you like to do. I do it the same way you do: paint, wire, epoxy. I have tried paint, epoxy then wire, but for some reason I like the first way. For fully sealed plugs I wire, paint, epoxy....

Re: Real Newbie Question
Yeah I'm not sure wiring as the last step is the best choice as I feel I may mess up the finish trying to wire the thing. However if I wire first I have to be careful not to epoxy the lip and the other hardware.
Who else has opinions on the best way to do this?

Re: Real Newbie Question
I paint wire then epoxy. this way i can seal around the lip and the tail end of the wire. just gotta be careful not to glue the swivel to the grommet.

Get some drinking straws, cut into small lengths and put them over the swivels....

Re: Real Newbie Question
I like the look of a plug that is painted, epoxy and wired at the end. But i also like a plug that is sealed from one end to another makes a plug alot more durable. I would go for a plug that can take a good beaten over looks any day .Just my 2 cents. Danny.
Wire then fill your plug with epoxy, prime, paint, epoxy.
