I like the new Fireline crystal. But to be honest I usually use whatever I get the best deal on.

Re: Fishing line color????
I primarily use braid,,, and green/moss green is my most popular spooled color. I just put 15lb red power pro on a spool that will get wet soon,.
I think the big question is ===do fish see in color? My visceral quick answer would be yes.
After a quick internet search.. it appears fish see in colors- red -blue- green & ultraviolet,, however the intensity of these colors and combinations are dependent upon the individual species of fishes receptor cells(cells that percieve color in the eyeball),,, called cones.. so it maybe that as an example only,,stripe bass may see certain colors in deeper shades or more vibrant hues as opposed to a sea robin that may see in pastels.
And if the do see in color... after several feet below the water surface light doesn"t penetrate very good and therefore I think all shades get muted anyway..
does line color matter? nah,, only if you're not catching!
will some colors scare fish? see above answer

Re: Fishing line color????
Well i fish bait 99% of the time,i use old school dacron on my conventional's and power/pro green or red on my spinners..
Re: Fishing line color????
i dont think it makes a damn bit of difference to be honest,
i used to always use dark green moss until last yr when started fishing jetties more and seeing the line was hard for me so i changed to white and still getting roughly same amount of fish only its easier for me to see.
after all we arent 100% sure how fish see and what variations of color contrasts and using a 2-3 ft shock leader gives you the stealth you need.
imho.

Re: Fishing line color????
I use green Sufix braid on all my gear.
I don't buy into the fish cannot see color thing. The line manufacturers say that red line is superior because the fish cannot see it. The hook manufacturers say that a red hook is preferred because it makes the bait appear to be bleeding, along with the red leaders that are actually called bleeding leaders. Don't these two ideas totally contradict each other?? One is saying that it is invisible, the other that it is visually appealing. Doesn't make sense to me. Just my $.02

Re: Fishing line color????
color lines are really just for your own visibility....... personally I like power pro..... and use the moss green and phantom red..........
as far as the braid line subject is up, I have noticed at times when fish are being picky...... that braided lines are much more sensitive and give you better feel....... but the fish can feel it as well and tend to spit out your bait quickly.......... try using mono in the cases...... it will improve your catching.......
hope it helps!

oh, and Smitty......... any succesful fisherman will tell you, you have to fish w/ confidence if you dont you wont catch fish.......... that also goes for what bait or lure your using as well, you got to believe in it or you'll be switching lures more than fishing and covering area!

Re: Fishing line color????
i like ande mono in blue, forest green, and lime green. cajun red line is crap! and power pro i like green because the red i think scares away fish.
Re: Fishing line color????
i think line color is personal preferences. i think people who like green will buy green line and so on. i've tried different lines and different colors over the years. i like red mostly for the visibility. but after using the tracer braid, i will not be getting any other line for awhile. from the second i put it on my reel i loved it.
i can see it, the casting is the smoothest i've felt of all the braids i've tried. and it's been tough as nails. i tend to break off a lot and haven't had that trouble yet switching to this line. it's also very sensitive like most braids.
i think if fish were in a blitz or schooling line color wouldn't matter. there trying to find food and probably won't even notice that line stuck to the nose of the food they are chasing. besides most striped bass fisherman fish at night so can the line really be seen by anything other than maybe a bat?
