Plug Building Product Review

I was in the market for another lathe so I can do custom work without removing my duplicator from my Jett. So I purchased the Mini Lathe from Harbor Freight!!! Don't laugh yet!!!! This lathe gets a 10 out of a 10 from me... I am a diehard Jet person, but this lathe is as good if not better than my Jet.

I unpacked the lathe and wiped the whole thing down with a cloth ( it's shipped with a light oil on it ) I went over all the bolts and made sure they were tight. I checked the belt and adjusted the tension, it is shipped from the factory without any tension. I added my tail stock and live center and also checked to make sure they were lined up and they were perfect. I added some wood and let her have it!! This lathe is EXCELLENT for the money. $169.

Because the lathe is about 5 inches longer than my Jet, I might put my vega Dup. on the harbor freight lathe and use the Jet as my back-up. This way I can make a longer plug if needed.

If you are looking for a new lathe or just a back-up and you dont want to break the bank, this is the lathe for you..

Sweet lathe.
Harbor Freight puts out some decent stuff.Plus they have the stores now,not just catalouge and on-line sales.
Grizzly is another place to find some good wood working tools.
