So how to learn this thing called building???
My son Jimmy(jajim) wants to learn how to make plugs.He's very artistic,and loves tools.I on the other hand couldn't turn/carce/paint if my life depended on it.So whats a Dad to do.Any reccomendations on how to start him out????I'm also short on cash so just runnin out and buyin a bunch of equipment isn't in the picture.Any ideas on how to get him started would be great!!!!

Plug kits form CCT and spray paint. Thats how I started and it was really fun and easy

Check( nj tackle.com) they sell the complete kits, great way to start out.

hey Jim, when i kinda get rollin over here i'll ship ya some kits.
as far as painting, primer white. thats all you need. first2wins(Jason) will back me up on this one. no need for clear coat, just flat white. then at the end of the day of fishing, hit it with the white again and your ready for the next trip out. paint the hooks and all.

monster starting in two weeks,,,best lurebuilders in the world are going to show you how to build and finish plugs,,,,, where to go to teach a kid? your here daddyO, there will be twenty builders here live every sat. night for three months, every one dying to answer questions, pretty sure we are going to give some plugs and kits out.

He's at his mothers every Saturday.They've got no Internet.So he won't be able to watch.I'm usually playin music on Saturdays or fishin.Damn Murphy's law.

hey crazy....
This is what you do, step 1, get all your old plugs together, take the hooks off, give him some 220 sandpaper
and tell him to sand them all down smooth, next rustolium white some stick on eyes and spray on rusto clear, let him do this.
Not only will this hone his skills, but will let you know if you need to invest more money. good luck, skippy, our build threads will be permanent for the little angel to review....

Wow never thought of that I'll get the stuff tomorrow and Sunday we'll be sandin.Now should we wear mask's to sand????We need ventalation????

If you think you need a mask or the thought even pops in to your head you need a mask then its a sure bet you need a mask if not for you have little Jim put one on

Don't listen to any of this Jim, he dosn't need to do anything except hang aroung with the right people......they'll teach him the tricks of no turning wood,no sanding,no painting and best of all.....no money spent, introduce him to the true masters .........THE HO'S A NO BRAINER HERE !

Will a paper mask work or shouold I get one of those ones with filters in it???
