Re: " Our Lost Legends "
Thank for this opportunity Skippy and S.B.O.
Pictured is Fred (Fritz) Schneider from Oceanport. Said to be a true sportsman, known for the many prize winning large he caught as well as for his stinky Di-Nobali cigars! Fred loved and fished on all the local beaches, and was an avid car topper as well. Also pictured are some of his old hand pours and one of the plugs he almost finished before succumbing to a boating accident at night off Monmouth Beach In 1970. He was only 42. Miss ya Dad!! bubs

Gary was the guy you could call anytime you got an idea how to make a plug swim better and he'd sit on the phone for an hour hashing it out with you. Pure fisherman down to the bone and one of the nicest people you could have ever met. Learned some of the secrets of wood from him, down the road solved a lot of the riddles with Skippy. Gary is sadly missed, but every time I bend a rod on a good fish I know he's smiling ear to ear!!

my "legend" would have to be my grandfather frank. he is pictured here taking a very young me crabbing in highbar harbor, nj. we spent countless summers there catching eels, crabs, oyster crackers, etc. right off the dock of my parents house. i remember fishing BI and 8th street daily, catching bluefish and fluke. he never hesitated for a second when it came to my brother and i. being a true italian gentleman you would even get a "god bless you" every five minutes or so. he carried around a pocket full of saints and was and is to this day the kindest man i have ever met. it's a real shame my children will not have the honor to have met him. he is dearly missed by our entire family.

Tears in our eyes,,,,,,we say goodbye.....
Dorothy Carr,
For a while I ate at this womans table everynight, on the nights I worked late, they would wait for me before they would eat..
After dinner it was always the same, Lefty and I would hit the basement, till it was time for me to go home usually always after 11.. As I was leaving she was always handing me a bag, usually leftovers or maybe lunch for the following day,, There was no end to this ladys giving, and I am a better person for knowing her, she will surely be missed....

I will have to second that for gary. On the other site about a month before hepassed I sent him a PM telling him I hoped for him to get better. He replied and out of nowhere offered me one of his plugs for FREE. I accepted the offer but sadly he passed soon after that. I never got the plug but I really dont care. It truely is the thought that counts, especially caring so much about others that he was willing to give up one of his awsome works of art to a kid while he was in near critical condition.
RIP Gary

Re: " Our Lost Legends "
I use to meet up with Gary in march way back in the bay every year. I miss seeing that cherry red face from wind burn saying hey stevie whats going on. The gangster is why i joined asbury. 1 night on the bridge he asked me if i was happy where im at. I said no and he took me to a meeting with Tatoo Gene and I joined. Tatoo Gene is another guy i miss. He was the most funniest people when things were slow to listen to. When he got real sick he called me up and gave me 1 of his last tatoos. I miss all you guys.
